Reward Offered in Cold Case

Posted: Updated:

The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department says a reward is being offered in a cold case from the 1970's. Sheriff Mike Linder says an anonymous donor is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for the deaths of Linda and Clifford Bernhardt in 1973. Sheriff Linder says the two were found dead in their home on Dorothy Lane in the Heights on November 6th of 1973. Linder says, "The couple had moved into the home within a month of this double homicide. The bodies were discovered by a family member who was concerned because she could not reach the couple by phone. Both Linda and Clifford were well liked by friends and co-workers."

In addition to the $100,000 reward, crime stoppers is offering an additional $1,000 reward. Anyone with information is asked to call the cold case unit at the sheriff's office at 869-3530.
