Sheriff Contract Negotiations Postponed

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

Contract negotiations for Yellowstone County Sheriff's Deputies are being postponed.

An outside fact finder was scheduled to mediate commissioners and deputies on November 20th, but they were injured. So the fact-finding process will start over. According to Montana Public Employees Association representative, Darcy Dahle, deputies are concerned over the strict compensation and sick time guidelines commissioners are trying to impose. "It's a very humbling feeling. I've worked in law enforcement since 1990, and I know the commitment these guys have to the community. They are out there protecting you and I. To be able to protect them through this process is my pleasure," Dahle said.

Dahle said she expects negotiations will start again during the first week of December.
