212 Montanans Enrolled in Obamacare Insurance

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

The official numbers for the federal online marketplace, also known as Obamacare, are out and the numbers are lower than expected.

The Department of Health and Human Services reports hundreds of Montanans have signed up for insurance using the online marketplace.

The numbers being released include those who enrolled in the plans during the first month.

Health officials say more than 2,000 completed applications on the online marketplace for Montana. Montana is one of 36 states using the federal exchange website, healthcare.gov.

"I wish these numbers were higher," Commissioner Monica Lindeen said. "Like so many Montanans who have attempted to use the federal website, I remain frustrated and disappointed by the performance of healthcare.gov. This is not acceptable."

Nationally, more than 26,000 people enrolled in a federal marketplace plan.
