BILLINGS -

Hunter Jones, the local Billings teacher who received the national award for the VFW Middle School Teacher of the Year, organized the annual Veterans Assembly.

Jones, an 8th grade history teacher, says it's important for students to recognize veterans who have served and those currently serving in the military and understand the sacrifices they take for our country.

"We need to support them and that's my message. And these kids need to learn at an early age to support and how valuable they are," says Jones.

Jones says the assembly this year broke the record with more veterans attending the ceremony than ever before.
