Montana Hope Project Surprises Girl

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

A surprise leaves a little girl grinning from ear to ear. The Montana Hope Project stopped by a family lunch and surprised the 8-year-old with a bag filled with special gifts.

Montana Highway Patrol troopers stopped by Pizza Hut, not for lunch, but to surprise 8-year-old Joslynn Baker.

"It felt really surprising like I couldn't believe it, like I was about to explode," Joslynn said.

The Montana Hope Project was started by troopers to grant wishes to critically ill children. Joslynn was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor two years ago. Her wish is to go to Disney World.

"We're going to do everything we possibly can in the entire week that we're there," said Mary Baker, Joslynn's mother.

"Sometimes kids in situations where they don't have a lot to be happy about, they can create some memories with their loved ones that everyone can smile about for years to come," said Trooper Toman Baukema with MHP.

The troopers gave Joslynn a camera and some spending money for the trip.

"Making memories means to me, it means a lot," Joslynn said. "I'm going to take lots of pictures that we want to remember."

"It's huge," Mary said about the gift. "This is a huge deal. This is definitely going to be something that she remembers for the rest of her life."

Joslynn and her family are leaving Saturday for Disney World. The troopers planned the event for Friday to give her a proper send off.
