BILLINGS -

Now that school is back in session, the Gold Star Award is back too. The October Gold Star goes to Leona Roberts at Newman Elementary.

Roberts has been teaching for over thirty years. KULR-8 presented Roberts with a $250 check for her classroom, $50 from Rocky Mountain Bank, and $50 for services at Underriner Motor.

Roberts says she believes in creating a relationship with her students and to have fun together while learning.

"I love to engage the kids and have them love learning. I like to make learning fun for the kids and form relationships with the kids. I think if you have a positive relationship with the kids, the kids will be more likely to work for you and try hard. And if learning is fun they are going to learn more," says Roberts.

Roberts plans to use the money on an iPad for the classroom.
