Blankets Made for Domestic Violence Victims

BILLINGS -

Domestic Violence Awareness month is coming to a close, but women are still doing what they can to make a difference.

The Billings Zonta Club joined with the Domestic Violence Abuse Awareness Society to make tie blankets. Volunteers say each Billings police car will be outfitted with one blanket, so officers can hand them out to domestic violence victims.

"It really evolved out of the Native American tradition of giving a blanket to provide a sense of warmth and support to an individual. And we thought this would be a nice way to tie into warmth and support for victims of domestic violence," says Zonta board member, Nancy Rice.

Rice says her goal was to make 30 blankets for Saturday's event.
