Red Lodge Mayoral Candidate Forum

RED LODGE -

Red Lodge residents dropped by the Elks Lodge for the town's mayoral candidate forum.

Tom Weaver and Ed Williams are the two candidates for the mayor of Red Lodge. Questions for them highlighted the issues most important to the residents. One is improving communication between the city and its residents, a priority for both candidates.

"Talking to the people in Red Lodge, they'd like to have little more say in the politics of Red Lodge, so I'm kind of a voice for them," Weaver said.

"I have business, banking background which I believe we need now because of our budget constraints and all the financial impacts that we are feeling here in our community," Williams said.

Weaver's other priorities are developing plans for the city's future and helping businesses during construction. Williams is focused on replacing retiring department heads and creating a capital improvement plan.

Red Lodge residents will vote on November 5th.

Much of northwest Wyoming is a high desert, but most people don’t use rain barrels to conserve water. Cody’s Nature Conservancy wants to change that, with a rain barrel auction at its second annual Wild West Riverfest in Cody.

Can you imagine building a hotel by stacking one floor on top of another? That’s what’s happening in Yellowstone. The Park’s lodging concessionaire, Xanterra, tore out hundreds of old cabins in Canyon Village, and started construction this summer on five new lodges to replace them. The new lodges are actually modular jigsaw puzzles.
