Potential 2016 Presidential Bid

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

Big political news for Montana - former Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer says he would consider a presidential bid in 2016, according to an interview posted today on Real Clear Politics.

Governor Schweitzer told the website he could envision himself in that role.

He said in the interview he would even consider running if Hillary Clinton entered the race.
Though Schweitzer would have to build name recognition, Schweitzer suggested to the website that his rural background and ability to generate free media coverage could keep him in the race, particularly in Iowa.

When discussing the first caucus and primary states he said, "the people of Iowa are a whole lot like the people of Montana. And, of course, New Hampshire's a lot like Montana. We don't have a sales tax. 'Live Free or Die' - we understand that notion in Montana."

We'll keep you posted as we learn more information on this story.
