District Officials Hope SD2 Bond Will Pass

BILLINGS -

Elections are weeks away and the SD2 bond is still a hot topic.

On Tuesday night, district officials held a meeting at McKinley, and Broadwater Middle School for the $122.3 Million bond.

The bond will help fund the School District 2 master facilities plan, which includes a new middle school at 56th, and Grand on the west end. They plan on expanding another middle school in the Heights next to Bitterroot Elementary.

School officials say they are already 400 students over capacity, and want to see the bond pass so students can succeed.

Pam Berry, an Arrowhead Elementary parent, said she's for the bond because it gives the students a better education.

"I think that we're in. I look at it as a business side of it too, and I look at the hospitals and I look at the people that are possible not going to look at coming to Billings. If we don't do something about our education," Berry said.

The bond also includes a maintenance bond that would refurbish 23 elementary and middle schools. That would include close to $70,000 to repair and replace asphalt at Beartooth Elementary School.
