One of Saint Vincent Healthcare's largest fundraisers kicked off Saturday night.

The 35th Annual Saints Ball attracts more than 1,000 guests and raises nearly $1,000,000. This year the money will be used to support and expand pediatric care at Saint Vincent Healthcare.

Organizers started planning for the benefit back in January, and volunteers say they worked hard all week to decorate for the 1920's themed event.

"It's been months and months of work, with dozens of volunteers, to see this come together with the generous donations, with our auctions, and some of the pledges we've received. It's going to be a really elegant night, just a wonderful time," said Ceci Bentler, Saints Event Chair.

The Roaring Twenties Saints Ball is Saturday night at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.

Tickets are sold out, but if you are interested in donating to the Saint Vincent Healthcare Pediatric Unit, you can contact the program organizer at 237-7010.

Streets that run for several blocks, without a single street light. It is a dark reality many residents throughout the Magic City face when the sun goes down. Leo Robinson lives on Monad Rd., east of 24th Street. He said if street lights were placed on Monad, safety for everyone would improve. Terry Smith, City Traffic Engineer, said the city is more than willing to work with anyone, on any street, which lacks street lights.
