BILLINGS -

Montanans are more likely to be involved in an accident with a deer than most any other state in the US.

According to a State Farm survey using national data, Montana is second in the nation with a 1 in 65 chance of colliding with a deer. The national average is 1 in 174. The only state which is worse is West Virginia.

In the past year, there were about 1.22 million collisions caused by deer. The average damage was about $3,414. The only good news for Montanans is the likelihood for such a crash is down 6%.
