Hundreds Attended Rubber Duck Regatta

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of people turned out for the annual Rubber Duck Regatta at Riverfront Park today.

The Regatta is as fundraiser for the Elder Abuse Prevention Program. The event is held on National Grandparents Day to bring families out for an afternoon of fun. Cabela's gave away fishing poles and there was plenty of food, entertainment, and carnival games. Organizers say the event also educates the public on senior citizen abuse.

"There's an increase in the number of senior citizens that are being financially exploited, that are being scammed," said Denise Armstrong, Big Sky Senior Services. "It's unfortunate that in our state we have such a high percentage of senior citizens who tend to be victims of these scam situations that are occurring."

All proceeds will go to educating the public and senior citizens of abuse and how to protect yourself and others from being exploited.
