BILLINGS -

Big Sky Honor Flight organizers held a barbecue outside of Walmart Saturday for October's flight.

Staff volunteers from Walmart in Laurel and Billings gathered to raise money for WWII veterans. Organizers say they still need $50,000 to send veterans to D.C. to visit the memorial built in their honor.

"We never actually, when they came back, ever gave them the proper thank you, and by taking them back to Washington, D.C., we're able to show them that this country appreciated what they did," said Bill Kennedy, Yellowstone County Commissioner.

The fundraiser also included a bake and crafts sale. Organizers marched in the Burn The Point parade last night to raise money. They will also be at the Labor Day picnic in Rose Park this Monday as well.
