BILLINGS -

A local company is giving a big gift to the new Billings Public Library.

At a reception Thursday evening, technology company Integra announced it will donate a gigabyte of high-speed internet bandwidth to the new library, which is still under construction. The deal will last for five years.

Bill Cochran with the library said it's a big plus for the new facility's technical capabilities.

"The very large capacity that a gigabyte of broadband access is gonna give us is a much more dramatic demonstration to the community of what library's gonna be in the future," said Cochran.

Construction on the new library will wrap up in November, and the new library should open in February 2014.
