Fair Fun for Kids

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

Fairs are family events and MontanaFair has many rides or exhibits both parents and kids can enjoy.

There're many activities kids can get involved in. There's an animal farm at the Agsprouts Building as well as new and traditional rides at the carnival. All of the activities are sure to create memories.

"We're going to ride a whole bunch of rides and have fun!"

Kids are ready for the carnival at MontanaFair, but it's not just for the little ones. There are many rides at the carnival that kids and adults can ride on, one of them being the new monster truck ride. Other rides that are popular with families are the ferris wheel, Tilt-A-Whirl, and bumper cars.

"Children come out and it's amazing how they remember from year to year," said John Hanschen, Mighty Thomas Carnival president. "I ran into a four year old that I know and remembered the pony ride from last year. And you know, at that age you don't necessarily remember everything. Boy they remembered the experience that they had at the fair."

Creating memories also comes in the form of education at the Agsprouts Barn. They have an animal farm and a grains and corn box where children can familiarize themselves with produce and livestock.

"Just gets them more familiar and then they're not afraid of it," said Kellie Kittelmann, Montana Agri-Women's president. "Like they're not like, 'oh agriculture why do we have it?' They're like 'agriculture, that's great.' We get all of our food from agriculture. We get our clothes from agriculture."

The Agsprouts Barn also had a stick horse rodeo for children where they can compete like cowboys and girls.

"Everybody should take their time at the fair grounds and see everything," said Hanschen. "They've got a wonderful fair grounds here full of activities and full of things to do. And you shouldn't miss one of them."

4-H has exhibits, shows, and workshops throughout the week as well for kids to participate in.
