Quality of Life Run

BILLINGS -

Are you a runner? Looking for something to do coming up? The Billings Association of Realtors has you covered and you get to help out the Zoo, too.

The tenth annual Quality of Life Run takes place in downtown Billings on Saturday, August 17th. There is a 5-mile and a 2-mile run, but you are welcome to walk. Since the first run in 2004, nearly $300,000 have been raised to support local non-profits. Co-race organizer Robin Hanel says more than 500 people ran last year.

"People coming together for a couple hours to raise funds, and give back to our community, and get the community out enjoying something healthy," Hanel said.

This year's proceeds benefit ZooMontana. The cost before August 9th is $20 for adults, and $15 for kids. To register, please log on to qualityofliferun.com.

Several counties in our area have issued fire restrictions. Yellowstone County has issued Stage One fire restriction, which limit campfires and smoking areas. Carbon County has moved on to Stage Two restrictions, which set limits on certain work that can be done during the hot hours of the day. Decisions like these aren't just made by the county, however. They actually take a lot of coordination between different agencies."We try to work very hard to coordinate that," says Carmen Thomason, wh...
