Business Owner's Unexpected Source of Help

Out of a late night fire, a welding shop owner who lost everything may have hope. That hope is coming from an unexpected source.

Adam Heimbuck has been welding for more than 20 years. After finding out about the destruction of a competitors shop because of a fire, Heimbuck wanted to help.

"It kind of hit home because I know how much work I put into my business and what it would be like if that happened to myself," said Heimbuck, Manager at H&D Welding.

So, Heimbuck is opening a bank account at First Interstate Bank to help raise money for the owner and his business. While it may seem strange considering Heimbuck is a competitor, he says it's just what he's learned to do after being in the business for over two decades.

"It's kind of an unspoken brotherhood, you know, even though we're in competition, you still look out for one another," said Heimbuck. "It takes a lot of money, a lot of time, blood, sweat, and tears. He just got done purchasing around ten thousand dollars worth of equipment."

That new equipment and the rest of the business were uninsured. An even bigger reason why Adam wanted to help.

"I just kind of wanted to get out in the community and show that there are people that still do care, and so I thought this would be a good way to do it," said Heimbuck.

According to the Billings Fire Department, the cause of the fire is undetermined and the investigation has been closed.

Heimbuck plans to open the account on Friday to raise money for the business owner. We'll share that information as soon as we get it.
