A Billings sugar factory is facing stiff fines from Federal regulators, after being cited for 17 health and safety violations.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced Monday they have cited the Western Sugar Cooperative for a number of violations, ranging from inadequate fire exits, to unsafe use of electrical equipment. Of the violations, 12 are considered serious.

OSHA is considering to fine the plan more than $193,000 for the citations.

The company has 15 days to contest OSHA's findings.
