Governor Reads to Kids

BILLINGS -

From dinosaurs to a girl with stripes, Governor Bullock helped kids travel to a different world by giving the gift of reading.

A bunch of kids gathered around Bullock at the Boys and Girls Club today as he engaged them in the stories. He prepared two different books for the different age groups. He read about Goldilocks meeting three dinosaurs and a girl whose skin became multicolored. Both had morals the kids learned.

"When you ask the kids how many of them are reading at home, which is maybe the most important thing that we as parents can do with kids," Bullock said. "The kids are reading and they're staying engaged through the summer, so we don't lose so we don't lose some of the things over the summer."

His visit is a part of the Boys and Girls Club's Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) program. It encourages reading for fun.
