Investigation Underway in Colorado Crash

BILLINGS -

An investigation is underway after Tuesday's fatal crash of a helicopter belonging to a Billings-based company. The pilot, AJ Blain, died in that crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration are working with the Dolores County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.

The Sheriff's Office says the helicopter was registered to Billings Flying Service. The aircraft was in the area for a seismic exploration project for an energy company. Officials say Blain died at, or shortly after, the crash. Witnesses say they heard a loud pop before the helicopter dropped to the ground.

KULR-8 reached out to Billings Flying Service, but company representatives are not making a statement at this time. An autopsy will be performed Thursday.
