Free Eye Exams Provide Vital Care

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

Some kids at the Boys and Girls Club got to see a different image in Billings on Monday. Vision Service Provider gave free eye exams and glasses for kids in need. It's the first time VSP's mobile vision clinic stopped in Billings.

Eye exams are more important than most might think. Doctors can learn about a patient's overall health by examining the eye's blood vessels.

Local optometrist and volunteer Dr. Kevin McBride says vision care is especially important for children.

"Reading and learning in school is probably 80 percent of what you gather is through your eyes, so obviously if a child is compromised in what they see it's going to really affect learning."

The mobile eye exam clinic is a part of VSP's nationwide outreach program.
