Construction and Crowds at Billings Airport

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

The first weekend of closing the main runway at Billings Logan Airport passed and construction is going according to plan.

According to airport officials, when the runway reopened Sunday evening, 750 people packed into the airport to leave. The airport was just as crowded the following Monday morning.

Assistant Director of Aviation Transit Kevin Ploehn has a suggestion for travelers.

"If you have the opportunity to get here a little early both in the morning and on Sunday nights, I would recommend it so that nobody gets left behind. Not a good way to start a vacation."

Officials suggest getting to the airport 90 minutes before your flight. Construction will continue for the next five weekends. The runway will close Friday at 9 a.m. and re-open Sunday evening at six.

Susanne Rodell faced a difficult situation. Hail storm damage to her roof led to an insurance claim being filed. Rodell picked a local contractor to fix her roof, but mother nature did not cooperate. While the roofing company was in the middle of fixing her roof, a weekend of rain caused water damage to dry wall and ceilings within the house.
