BILLINGS -

Billings Police say Monday a man involved in an officer-involved shooting had, in fact, shot himself.

On Saturday, officers were called to North 29th Street and Third Avenue North, where 44-year-old Anthony Kenneth Allen was reportedly displaying a gun.

Officer Marc Snider reported heard one gunshot after Allen reached into his waistband, and fired nine rounds. Police Chief Rich St. John said Allen was trying to pull out his gun at the time, and the gun went off.

There are no other injuries.

Allen is now charged with Assault on a Police Officer. Meanwhile, Officer Snider is on administrative leave, as the investigation continues.
