United Blood Services kicked off their 9th annual Montana's Biggest Blood Drive early Wednesday morning.

Many people went out to the First Interstate Operations Building to help the cause. One donor, George Egolf, was donating blood for the first time in 30 years. He was worried he might not be able to donate. But after a quick exam, he was ready to go.

"I've never had blood myself, but I know a lot of people that have had. So I feel if I can donate I will," Egolf said. "And I'll probably donate a little more frequent now that I know that I can donate."

United Blood Services officials say they are struggling to keep up with the high demand for blood this summer. But Wednesday's blood drive should help them finally meet that demand.
