BILLINGS -

The annual Black Otter District Cub Scout Day Camp is underway. Local cub scouts take to the hills to learn valuable outdoor and life skills. This year's theme is dinosaurs.

The annual camp has been a tradition for over 20 years. Every year, almost 400 cub scouts come out to learn life skills and how to work together. And for some kids, this is their first outdoor experience.

"The things they learn here, just being here in general, they're not going to forget some of this stuff, some of the activities they get to take a part in," Black Otter District Director Kyle Lantz said. "We've got opening ceremonies and closing campfire ceremonies that really signify the group experience of fellowship for these kids. Being able take part in things that they're gonna remember for the rest of their lives."

Activities for the cub scouts include hiking, knot tying, P.E., archery, and BB guns. The day camp started Monday and will continue for the rest of the week for the different age groups. Closing ceremonies will take place Saturday around noon.
