A number of activities in the town of Red Lodge will mark this year's Founder's Day.

According to records, Red Lodge opened its post office in 1884, and began shipping coal in 1889. The town will celebrate its heritage with a number of events, from historical tours to kayak races.

In the midst of the celebrations, the town's famed musical festival is also celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The celebrations begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the Mason's Mountain Run.
