No Contest Plea in Meth-Laced Coffee

Posted: Updated:

A man plead no-contest on Friday to putting meth in a coffee maker at his mother's business.

Back in 2012, prosecutors say Craig Benedict spiked the coffee maker at the Laser 1040 office on Grand Avenue. The report says he did it out of anger after another employee asked him to take a drug test. Toxicology tests found one employee and three customers drank the meth-laced coffee.

Bennedict's sentencing will be in July. The prosecutor is asking for a five-year prison sentence.
