Pre-Memorial Day Celebration

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

It's the one day a year we take time to remember all those who have served and died for our country, and Billings begins doing that Friday.

The Yellowstone County United Veterans council held a pre - Memorial Day Ceremony on the Yellowstone County Courthouse Lawn. According to Yellowstone County United Veteran's Council Commander George Blackard, this is something the group does every Friday before Memorial Day to remind everyone the holiday is just around the corner.

"Start a tradition within your family of going to a Memorial Day Ceremony every year. We've kind of lost that I think over the years and we need to get back to that especially since we've been at war for twelve years," says Blackard.

The council invites all to attend Memorial Day ceremonies in Billings at Mount View Cemetery on Central Avenue starting at 9:45 on Monday. Then another ceremony will be held at the Yellowstone County Veteran's Cemetery in Laurel at noon.
