Lockwood Spirit of Service Week

Posted: Updated:

It might seem like some Lockwood Middle School students forgot to get dressed on Wednesday.

But the students were milling around in their pajamas for a good cause. "Rise and Shine for Shelters" is just one of the themes of "Spirit of Service Week" at the middle school. Students, like 8th grader Aimee Shelle, are allowed to put on their p.j's, if they bring in a hygiene product to donate to one of the local shelters.

"We really wanted to do something fun for the students that also benefited the community. so we decided to do spirit week with a twist basically. And everyone just came up with all these ideas and we kind of put pieces together to make it what it is," says Shelle.

Thursday's theme is "Character Day." Students dress as a favorite book character and bring in a summer reading book to donate.
