The Big Sky Honor Flight is getting a generous donation of $26,000. The money was awarded over the weekend.
But there's still more fundraising to do for at least one upcoming flight. The May flight for the World War II veterans is funded. Around $122,000 has been raised for the June flight, with around $30,000 more needed for it to be fully-funded. Yellowstone County Commissioner Bill Kennedy says the honor flights are made possible because of the Billings community.
"It's the people that give from the five dollar checks to the one hundred dollar checks to the group that comes out and says hey, I want to sponsor two veterans and give us two thousand dollars," says Kennedy.
The June flight takes off the 16th and 17th, if you'd like to donate towards Big Sky Honor Flight, you can make a contribution to bigskyhonorflight.org.
