Unemployment is going down in Billings. The Labor Department says 165,000 jobs were created during the month of April.
The report also revised the number of jobs previously released for the past two months, and February is now the best month for job creation in nearly three years. Local economist and professor Scott Rickard says those big numbers are helping to tick down the unemployment rate.
"We're also seeing unemployment down to seven and one-half percent. That is an improvement again. That's the national number. Remember, here in Yellowstone County, we're down at four and one-half percent. So we have an even better picture than the national number," says Rickard.
The stock market also surged to new all time highs. The DOW surpassed the 15,000-point mark for the first time in History.
