Saturday marks the first of the Triple Crown series of horse races, the Kentucky Derby! A local brewery has a stake in that big race.
UberBrew co-owner Ken Schlenker is also part owner of Frac Daddy. The horse will be running in the race on Saturday at Churchill Downs. UberBrew management, employees, and customers are excited about the local ties, and are ready to enjoy the Kentucky Derby from the Magic City.
"We're very excited. We've brewed a couple special beers that'll be available here at UberBrew during the race upon opening. We have a baltic porter, the Frac Daddy Baltic Porter, and we're doing a woodford aged bourbon red ale," said Paul Morup, manager at UberBrew.
In addition to the two limited edition beers, you can see the derby on all of the TV's at UberBrew and managers even brought in an extra TV. Ladies, if you wear your big hat, you get your first pint of beer free.
Coverage of the Kentucky Derby starts at 4:00 PM Saturday on KULR-8. If you miss it, be sure to watch the KULR-8 News for the highlights.
