A piece of information on nutritional labels could lead to you taking in more fat or calories, if you skip over it.
Staff at Saint Vincent Healthcare said nutritional information on food often reflects a single serving of that particular food. Food labels also list the amount of servings in that package, which oftentimes contain more than a single serving.
"If you see the serving size is actually one cup, where there's two servings in the container, you would need to double everything that's on a nutrition label." said Katie Desin. She said it is important to look at the labels carefully, so that you know what exactly you are putting into your body.
