A fire that spread out of control during a ditch-burning routine near Lovell is fully contained.
According to the Big Horn County's Fire Captain, Bob Mangus, the blaze scorched nearly 1,500 acres. Almost 50 firefighters were on hand to control the blaze over the weekend. No structures were damaged, but the fire did reach the front doors of a shop and home. Game and Fish, BLM, National Park Service and private land all burned. Mangus reports the farmer did nothing wrong during the routine burning. He said the wind came up and spread too quick to control.
