MSU football loses scholarships, practice time over grades

By The Associated Press

BOZEMAN - The Montana State football team has lost one-and-a-half scholarships and two hours of practice time per week because the players did not meet NCAA academic requirements. The NCAA released its report Tuesday.

The Montana State football team's grades are improving, but the four-year average is still below NCAA requirements. The lost practice time must be spent on academic work.

The University of Montana men's cross country team received an immediately penalty under the recent NCAA academic report. School officials say one member of the cross country team left school while he was ineligible, and the school lost the scholarship aid he was receiving, which was about a one-fifth scholarship.
