UM basketball assistant Marso resigns

By The Associated Press

MISSOULA - University of Montana assistant men's basketball coach Brian Marso has resigned.

Coach Wayne Tinkle announced Marso's resignation Monday. Tinkle says Marso resigned to pursue head coaching positions in either the junior-college or small-college ranks.

Tinkle says the Griz will begin a search to replace Marso. Marso was arrested for drunk driving last fall, but the charge was recently reduced to reckless driving. He had also been arrested for drunken driving during the 2003-04 season when Pat Kennedy was head coach.

Tinkle says he doesn't think the recent arrest had anything to do with Marso's resignation.
