Washington runner signs with UGF

By The Associated Press

GREAT FALLS - An athlete from Chimacum, Washington, has signed a letter of intent to join the University of Great Falls men's cross country and track team.

Jeremy Anderson's high school didn't have a cross country team, so he ran for nearby Port Townsend High School. He was voted Most Inspirational in both cross country and track. Anderson finished 54th out of 158 runners at the Salt Creek Cross Country 5k Invitational this past fall, with a time of 16:53. He finished 67th out of 144 competitors at the 2A Washington cross country state championships in 2007.

At a spring track meet hosted by Washington High School in Tacoma, Wash., Anderson finished first for the Chimacum Cowboys in the 1,600 meters.
