By The Associated Press

MISSOULA - University of Montana women's basketball coach Robin Selvig has announced the signing of point guard Shaunte Nance-Johnson.

Her husband, Anthony Johnson, signed with the Montana men's team last week. Nance-Johnson is a 2005 graduate of Henry Foss High in Tacoma, Washington, and played one season each at Northwest Nazarene and Yakima Valley Community College. Nance-Johnson averaged 9.6 points, 4.7 steals, 4.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Yakima Valley, which finished with a 29-4 record.

During the 2007-08 school year, Nance-Johnson coached the girls' varsity team at Riverside Christian School to a 22-6 record while her husband played his second season at Yakima Valley.

Nance-Johnson is the first junior college transfer to join the Montana women's basketball team in nearly 30 years.
