Bobcat football names four captains for 2008 season

By The Associated Press

BOZEMAN - The Montana State football team has named its captains for the 2008 season, and all four are in-state players.

Bobby Daly of Helena and Jim Verlanic of Anaconda are second-generation captains. Their fathers - J. Daly and Ken Verlanic - served as Bobcat football captains in the 1970s.

MSU's other captains are Dane Fletcher of Bozeman and Jeff Hansen of Great Falls. Daly returns as one of the nation's top defensive players, while Fletcher returns as one of the nation's leaders in tackles for loss. Verlanic returns as the Bobcats' starting center and Hansen is a two-year starter at guard.

The Bobcats start the 2008 season on Aug. 30 with a home game against Adams State.
