Few candidates in sight at Wyo. Dems' conventionCASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Democratic Party chairwoman says she hopes her party will have a solid candidate for governor before the May 28 filing deadline, which is less than two weeks away. Democrats are holding their state convention this weekend in Capser with only a handful of candidates running for statewide office. Party officials say they believe they're biding their time. With Gov. Dave Freudenthal's decision not to seek a third term, Democrats have been left without a gubernatorial candidate they can unite behind. Chairwoman Leslie Petersen of Jackson says Democrats weren't "prepared to make any announcements" Saturday, but says the party leadership is talking seriously to a couple of possible gubernatorial candidates. The party also lacks statewide candidates for treasurer, auditor and secretary of state. |
