CHEYENNE, WYOMING - A former nurse at a Cheyenne family practice clinic will serve seven years of probation for inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl.

Thirty-three-year-old Michael S. Carroll II, of Cheyenne, apologized to the victim, his family and his profession during a sentencing hearing in Laramie County District Court.

Police say Carroll met the girl at the University of Wyoming Family Practice. He pleaded guilty in December to third-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Laramie County District Judge Peter Arnold on Monday went above the four-year probation term worked out in a plea agreement between prosecutors and Carroll's defense attorney.
