Funds drop for community construction grants

CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Officials with the Office of State Lands and Investments say Wyoming cities and counties will see a sharp drop in the state money available for community construction grants.

Rob Tompkins says that starting July 1, there will just over $33 million available for grants for the next two years. That compares to more than $241 million that the Legislature set aside for the two year period that ends June 30.

Tompkins says the smaller budget means the countywide consensus block grant process is ending, and local governments will now have to apply directly to the State Loan and Investment Board for grants.
