CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Piles of beribboned, ruffled and rhinestoned dresses are waiting to be given away to new owners at a Cheyenne dress shop.

It's part of Project Prom, an effort to provide donated prom dresses to teens who would otherwise miss out on the big dance.

Jean Richardson created the program five years ago when she was trying to decide what to do with her own daughters' gently used prom dresses. She says anyone is welcome to browse the dresses and pick out one to keep for free. The dresses are on display at Cheyenne's Just Dandy clothing store.
