Passing lanes have eased congestion on Wyoming highway

GILLETTE, WYOMING - A series of passing lanes installed in 2005 and 2006 on U.S. 59 between Gillette and Wright has eased congestion on the two-lane highway.

Lt. Will Zilka of the Wyoming Highway Patrol says the road is more driveable, especially for motorists who get stuck behind a large truck or a slow driver. But Zilka hasn't seen a difference in accidents.

But he says that doesn't mean the passing lanes haven't been effective.
