CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Developers of a proposed power transmission line linking southeast Wyoming wind fields and the Colorado Front Range say they believe in the project and are forging slowly ahead.

The Wyoming-Colorado Intertie project suffered a setback last August when Xcel Energy rejected southeast Wyoming wind bids as a renewable energy source for its Colorado customers.

New Jersey-based LS Power and the Wyoming Infrastructure Authority are partnering to develop the 180-mile line between substations at Wheatland and Brush, Colorado.

Developers say Xcel's conclusion surprised them and prompted them to step back and review the project. Their own study found Wyoming wind resources to be better and cheaper than Colorado's. They continue to promote the project to Colorado markets.
