POWELL, WYOMING - Sandwich board signs that have sprouted up on downtown sidewalks in Powell are raising concern among city officials.

City Planning and Zoning Commission member John Campbell says some of the signs do not comply with city ordinances.

Campbell says sandwich board signs are allowed in Powell with permits, but most business owners using them have not received permits.

Powell Mayor Scott Mangold says there safety and aesthetic issues that are a concern for the city.

Several signs are in the middle of pedestrian walkways, and city leaders worry they present safety hazards.
