ROCK SPRINGS, WYOMING - The Board of Trustees of Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs is looking at a property tax to raise money for scholarships.

The board will host a public hearing next month to hear comment on the idea. Voters approved a similar mill levy three years ago, producing enough money to finance three years worth of scholarships.

College President Karla Leach says that money has run out while the need remains for scholarship money for worthy but needy students. Officials say the amount of the proposed new levy is not yet certain, but the goal would be to raise $444,000 per year.
