CASPER, WYOMING - A 31-year-old Casper woman has been charged with assault and battery after police say she maced her estranged husband's 25-year-old girlfriend.

Police say they were called to a Casper home on Sunday and found a woman washing out her eyes. The woman's boyfriend told police that his soon-to-be ex-wife had been in the garage and suddenly ran into the home, sprayed mace at his girlfriend and left.

Police say Thelma Jane Woodall told police later that night that she maced the girlfriend, but said she did so in self-defense. She has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault and battery and one count of child endangerment, all misdemeanors. The child endangerment charge is because police say a child was near the girlfriend when she was sprayed.
