CHEYENNE, WYOMING - The Wyoming State Energy Office still has $2.8 million in federal stimulus funds available for communities to conduct energy efficiency retrofits on local buildings and lights.

The office is distributing grants of up to $250,000 as part of a U.S. Department of Energy program.

The program provides money for community projects such as upgrading street or building lighting, improving insulation, and replacing boilers or furnaces.

The Energy Office is taking applications on a first-come, first-served basis. No matching funds from communities are required.

The Energy Office distributed an initial round of funding totaling more than $2.9 million in January.
